We are deeply saddened by the passing of Board Chair Marny Xiong.
Marny was a powerful voice for her family, for our students and for the city of Saint Paul. Although only 31, she spent much of her life leading the fight for racial justice, workers, and for educational equity. Her work with TakeAction Minnesota, SEIU, and SPPS will be remembered by us all, and will likely be an inspiration to young people across the state.
The loss of such a vibrant young woman that was so dedicated to her community is devastating for us all. We ask that you take time to be with your loved ones, and to hold space in your heart for Marny and her family as you do so.
The Xiong family has asked that people respect their privacy at this time. However, people wishing to support Marny’s family can contribute to the GoFundMe to relieve the financial strain they are under.
